Die Woche steckte uns allen in Knochen und so versammelte sich freitagabends ein beachtlicher Haufen an Groundhopping-Interessierten aus unserem Kreise vor dem Stadion De Koel in Venlo. Wir haben zwar bereits über den VVV berichtet, aber das heutige Spiel hatte es in sich.
Kurz nachdem wir uns mit Eintrittskarten versorgt hatten, ging es nach einer Ehrenrunde über das Techno-Festzelt auf dem Vorplatz, durch den berühmten Stadiontunnel ins Stadion selbst.
Es ist immer wieder ein Erlebnis, wenn man nach dem Tunnel den Rasen erreicht und quasi direkt am Platz steht. Da die Wetterprognose auf „trocken“ stand, nahmen wir auf dem nicht überdachten Teil der Haupttribüne unsere Plätze ein.
Es galt, gegen den Nachwuchs vom PSV Eindhoven anzutreten. Gästefans: 0.
Dies tat der Stimmung im Heimbereich jedoch keinen Abbruch. Über die gesamten 90 Minuten lieferte die Hintertor-Tribüne akustische Unterhaltung. Einziger Minuspunkt an diesem Abend:
Zum wiederholten Male ist mir mein Kaassoufflé kalt überreicht worden. Also wirklich so kalt, dass ich mir nicht sicher war, ob es nicht einfach aus der TK unfrittiert ins Broodje gelegt und mal kurz an die Heizung gehalten wurde. Ich verstehe es nicht … ich meine, es ist frittierter Käse. Das ist nun wahrlich keine Raketenwissenschaft.
Zum Spiel:
Die knapp 5000 Anwesenden sahen ein klasse Spiel!
Die in schwarz-gelb gekleideten Venloer legten los wie die Feuerwehr. Die ersten paar Minuten ergaben sofort 3-4 Anläufe über die rechte Außenbahn. Es dauerte exakt 7 Minuten an diesem Abend und der Ball zappelte verdient im Netz der Gäste.
Die ersten 10 Minuten nach der Führung sahen wir weiterhin ein einseitiges Spiel. Die Vermutung lag nahe, dass es an diesem Abend eine klare Kiste werden könnte. Dachten wir! Die Nachwuchsabteilung aus Eindhoven fing sich recht zügig. Also fiel nach 10 Minuten Powerplay der Gäste in der 31. Minute der Ausgleich. Absehbar!
Bis zur Halbzeit hatte Venlo große Mühe, nicht in Rückstand zu geraten. Man merkte dem Team aus dem Grenzgebiet die Unsicherheit deutlich an.
Halbzeit – Durchatmen
Die zweite Halbzeit startet wie die erste. Venlo drückt und benötigt dieses Mal lediglich 2 Spielminuten nach Wiederanpfiff, um erneut in Führung zu gehen. 2:1, das Stadion steht Kopf.
Die junge Riege des PSV denkt sich:
„Nicht mit uns!“.
Sofort reißen die Gäste wieder das Spiel an sich und so erscheint es nur logisch, dass in der 65. Minute der Ausgleich durch einen berechtigten Elfmeter fällt.
5 Minuten später dreht sich die Partie erneut zu Gunsten der Hausherren. Powerplay von Venlo. Leider bleibt dieses unbelohnt und jeder Angriff scheitert entweder am Können des Eindhovener Schlussmannes oder an sich selbst.
Die Tribüne steht mittlerweile. 90 Minute. Letzte Chance auf drei Punkte.
Flanke - Kopfball - Tor. 3:2!!! Abpfiff! Das Stadion rastet aus!
Wahnsinn! Und genau deswegen lieben wir Fußball! Genau deswegen fahren wir überhaupt dahin! Was für eine tolle Partie!

VVV Venlo - Jong FC Eindhoven
We all had a rough week and so on Friday evening a considerable number of ground-hopping enthusiasts from our circle gathered in front of the De Koel stadium in Venlo. We've already reported on VVV, but today's game had it all.
Shortly after we had bought our tickets, after a lap of honour through the techno marquee on the forecourt, we went through the famous stadium tunnel into the ground itself.
It is always an experience when you reach the pitch after the tunnel and are literally standing right on the pitch. As the weather forecast was "dry", we took our seats in the uncovered part of the main stand.
Venlo had to play against the youngsters from PSV Eindhoven. Guest fans: 0.
However, this did not dampen the mood in the home section. The back stand provided acoustic entertainment for the entire 90 minutes. The only negative point of the evening:
Once again, my kaassoufflé was handed to me cold. So cold, in fact, that I wasn't sure whether it hadn't simply been taken out of the freezer, placed in the broodje and briefly held up to the heater. I don't understand it ... I mean, it's deep-fried cheese. It's really not rocket science.
About the game:
The almost 5000 people in attendance saw a great game!
The Venlo team, dressed in black and yellow, started like a fire engine. The first few minutes resulted in 3-4 attempts down the right flank. It took exactly 7 minutes that evening and the ball deservedly found its way into the visitors' net.
We continued to see a one-sided game for the first 10 minutes after taking the lead. It seemed likely that it would be a clear-cut affair that evening. Or so we thought! The youngsters from Eindhoven quickly caught up. So after 10 minutes of the visitors' power play, they equalised in the 31st minute. Predictable!
Until half-time, Venlo had great difficulty in not falling behind. The uncertainty of the team from the border region was clearly noticeable.
Half-time - taking a deep breath
The second half started like the first. Venlo pressed and this time only needed two minutes after the restart to take the lead again. 2:1, the stadium is upside down.
The young PSV squad thought to themselves:
"Not with us!".
The visitors immediately took control of the game again and so it seemed only logical that they equalised again in the 65th minute with a justified penalty.
5 minutes later, the game turned in the home side's favour again. Powerplay from Venlo. Unfortunately, this went unrewarded and every attack failed either because of the skill of the Eindhoven goalkeeper or because of themselves.
The stands are now standing. 90th minute. Last chance for three points.
Cross - header - goal. 3:2!!! Final whistle! The stadium goes crazy!
Madness! And that's exactly why we love football! That's why we go there in the first place! What a great match!
